Happy to Announce the OPENING OF OUR ETSY STORE!!

It has been a long, hard road and at times seemed like it was an impossible task, but I am happy to announce the GRAND OPENING of my Etsy Store!  After the big move, restocking for the opening of two stores seemed like something that would take months. 

Life has thrown a few obstacles my way, but I happy to announce that I did overcome.

Available now are a large selection of birthday and thank you cards in two separate stores.  One on Ebay and one on Etsy.  Now you are able to find more than 50 styles of thank you cards, and over 200 different birthday greeting cards.

The next task is to get a jumpstart on the holidays.  It seems rather odd to be thinking of Christmas and snow when summer is right around the corner, but so is the life of a crafter.  My goal is to provide the widest variety of colors and styles for your holiday cards.

If you are anything like me, I send out a multitude of Christmas greeting cards.  I feel the need to touch base with anyone in my life at that time of the year.  Each one deserves only the best greeting.  I take these greetings seriously, whether giving or receiving them.  It is for this reason I feel the need to produce hundreds of holiday greetings.

I have had so much fun creating cards using this set.  I have also looked to other card makers for inspiration.  I would never had imagined that so many different types of cards and designs could be possible from this one stamp set.

It is possible to use this stamp with other stamp sets and a mix of different colors and styles.  That is not always an easy feat for one simple stamp set.  This one is definitely worth owning.  (Before you ask: No, I am not a Stampin' Up Demonstrator....although I own enough of their products that I should be. LoL)

Beach Themed Summer Birthday Card Designs

It's been a busy couple of weeks.  The quarterly doctor visits and wellness checks to help keep my fibromyalgia and arthritis in check.  Well, at least as in check as is possible.  I have also been receiving treatment for a painful heel spur (ouch!).  Two appointments a week for the past three weeks.  I'm not entirely sure what the appropriate name for the treatment is, but it is basically a laser massage treatment.  Let's just say it has worked a miracle.

I have been dealing with a heel spur for nearly 18 months.  I have seen multiple doctors and had multiple injections without relief.  I finally found a specialist that was willing to try something new.  I can only say that I am impressed.  After 6 half hour treatments, I can now walk pain free.  Yeah!

With all these appointments, I have had little time to create new cards or time to finish setting up my Etsy store.  I promise it is coming soon.  One final project to take care of next weekend, the big post-move garage sale.  Once that is complete, I promise to have the store up and running and even more designs being released.

This adorable little mermaid card is sure to be a huge hit with children or adults.  It was created with Stampin' Up stamps and Paper Studio anchor embossing folder.  It was so much fun to create.

More Masculine Birthday Cards

As you know, I had so much fun creating this two-piece birthday card set.  Stampin' Up's One Wild Ride rubber stamp set brought out my creative juices quickly.  There are so many possibilities that I cannot wait to get the set back out and design some more cards.

I am sure this set will not last long once it reaches our store on Etsy.  That's right, this premium birthday card set will only be available in our new Etsy store (for now).  I hope to have similar designs on Ebay soon.

Do You Consider Handmade Gift Items Cheap?

The debate continues....

When someone gives you a gift whether it is for your birthday, anniversary, wedding or Christmas, do you consider the gift "cheap" if it has been handmade?  Do you consider the time and effort that went into the crafting of the item?

There are some of you out there who do not care for handmade items (unless they come from your own children).  Then, there is the camp, such as myself, that love handmade items....and actually prefer it.

I have always been a crafty person.  In my childhood, I remember sitting at the sewing machine with my grandmother.  It always amazed me to watch as she turned a plain flat of fabric into clothing or curtains.  Unfortunately, as much as I have tried, sewing is not my forte.  I did, however, take the love of creating away from the experience.

Over the years, I have tried my hand and several different crafts.  I have a love of the craft store (as my husband can attest).  My favorite crafts though, are those created using items normally thrown out. 

Every year I vacation at the beach.  I spend hours walking the shore with my bucket or bag.  It is so peaceful for me to walk along the water and hear the waves.  The bonus is finding all kinds of beautiful shells.  I use these FREE craft items to create décor, wreaths, frames and so much more.  Not only do I get a truly personalized souvenir, but so do my friends and family.  Each time I look at my wreath, frame or whatever I created, I am able to take myself back to that peaceful moment when I collected it from the sand.

So, the next time someone offers you a handmade items, please stop for a moment and consider the time and memories that that person created for you.  I assure you that handmade items are not cheap.  Step inside your local craft store and you will understand.  Most handmade gifts cost more than store bought items.

Thank You Never Looked So Beautiful

This set of thank you cards are beautiful and elegant.  Each card has a different font and style of "thank you" greetings.  Four cards in this set have three-dimensional roses.  The other four cards have a beige background with lovely gold-colored embellishments and a large, satin gold bow.

All cards are left blank on the interior so that they can be personalized to each customer.

The look and appeal of three-dimensional cards cannot be marched by ordinary cards.  However, they do have one issue that most people do not consider.  They are not the best card to slip into an envelope and put in the mailbox.  There are several reasons for this: 1) postage is usually more than a usual flat card because 2) this type of card cannot be ran through the USPS sorting machines.  This means that they must be hand-sorted which costs more.  And finally, 3) the mailing process itself can damage the embellishments on the card.

None of this means that you cannot send a three-dimensional card through the USPS, rather it means that you should keep a few things in mind when sending them in this fashion.  First, if you are planning on sending a three-dimensional card through USPS, don't use the normal paper envelope.  Instead, consider using a padded envelope and/or a box.  Second, consider only delivering this types of cards by hand.

Either way you choose to send a three dimensional card, your recipient is going to be blown away by their beauty and crafting.

New and Exciting Thank You Designs

It's hard to believe that we are already in April.  Seems like only yesterday we were celebrating the holidays.  It has been a busy three months for me, but opening day is quickly approaching.  I have had some minor set backs, and of course, life always seems to get in the way.

It is nice having a job that I love. creating.  My physical condition does not allow me to do as much as I used to or even as much as I would like.  Over the past 8 years, I have been suffering with a debilitating condition in my left hand and thumb.  Even though I am right-handed, sometimes certain activities require the use of both hands.  Pinching, squeezing or even pressure can make my card making difficult at times.

Approximately every three months or so I stroll in to the orthopedic surgeon for a lovely cortisone injection that I pray will last longer than the last.  Occasionally I am lucky enough to get about 8-10 weeks of relief.  Recently, though, this has not been the case.  I am lucky if I get 6-8 weeks of relief.

As I am told by my surgeon, the only surgery to fix this condition is normally only performed on patients that are over the age of 60.  At age 45, I am a long way from fitting into that category.  Until then, I try injections, creams, medication or any other crazy thing that I think may give me relief.

I have told you this story so that others who suffer from fibromyalgia coupled with rheumatoid arthritis understand that you may not always be able to do ALL the things you would like, but you can use those good days to take the time to do something you love.

As promised, I wanted to share a few of my new designs in thank you cards.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I have in creating them. 

I enjoy designing and creating thank you cards of all sorts.  I always try to keep in mind that some people really like color, but some enjoy a simpler neutral color palette.
